On Saturday WDW Mouse Tales took a trip out to Hollywood Studios to see what was
new in the park. I have a few construction shots and comments for you guys this week.
So lets get started at the entrance of the park.
We arrived at the park about 10:00 and this park was pretty dead with Tower of Terror
and the Rock N’ Roller Coaster both with basically walk on standby lines. I loved
the wait time sign this morning take a look below.
We made our way towards Toy Story Mania and noticed the construction continues starting
at the Voyage of the Little Mermaid. I am not quite sure what they are changing here.
I guess time will tell.
Next door at One Man’s Dream the refurbishment and inclusion of the Blue Sky Cellar
continues. There are posters of upcoming projects on the construction walls. I look
forward to this reopening and checking out the previews.
We made our way to Toy Story Mania to try for a fast pass. Now as I stated earlier
this is 10:00 A.M. in a park at probably 20% occupancy. Take a look at the return
time on the fast pass machines.
I have to go on a little rant here about fast pass at this attraction. It is amazing
to me that the fast pass situation at such a large attraction is so limited due to
the low capacity of the attraction. To be honest I have not even seen the Toy Story
3 additions to this attraction because of this. A tip to new visitors get to the
park before 9:00 and walk with a purpose to Toy Story Mania if you would like a fast
pass anytime before dinner.
Take a look below for some random photos from the area.
(Yikes! 60 minutes in this line is an eternity!)
I have a new habit of always making sure I look up when I enter a building be it
ride or store in the park. I always find some scenery I have never noticed before.
You will be amazed at some of the details. One of my favorites is right past the
Backlot Tour you can find a bunch of Who Framed Roger Rabbit props hanging from the
The next time you exit the Backlot Tram Tour make sure to check out the AFI Exhibit
Building. There are many interesting set pieces and costumes in here. Including the
huge Davy Jones organ set piece and Alien costumes you can see in the photos below.
I know it seems early but Christmas is already in the air at the Hollywood Studios
backlot. The photos below show the progress that is already taking place installing
the Osborne Family Lights.
A quick comment for those of you that have not been out to Hollywood Studios this
year. Make sure you check out Muppet Vision 3D. The film was completely remastered
in high definition and I never remember the film looking this good even when it opened.
One main thing that I wanted to check out was if anything was happening at Star Tours
yet. I got my answer....nothing on the outside. If you did not have a park map there
was no way to tell the ride was not open other than a cast member hanging outside.
Even the fast pass machine sign was plugged in.
The only sign that the attraction was closed was inside the gift shop where Closed
Set was posted at the exit. Take a look below.
(A little plug for one of the best shows on TV)
One more example of store scenery can be found at the Stage One Company Store. You
gotta love Rizzo!
Hey Mickey if you are looking for Star Tours you will need to walk around until 2011.
I wonder if the signs will remain this way for the year.
I wanted to leave you with a couple of cool photos. First one of my favorite sorcerer
Mickey displays in the park and secondly the big daddy big fig of Sorcerer Mickey
in the Mickey’s of Hollywood Store. A cast member witnessed me admiring the statue
and informed me he once inquired on the price when it was installed and was told
$25.000. I guess I can admire it from afar.
Well everyone have a magical week. See ya real soon!!
