This week WDW Mouse Tales spent the day at Universal Orlando at both Universal Studios
and Islands of Adventure and Disney was not the only one with Halloween decorations
up. Halloween Horror Nights are on the way and the scare zones are starting to come
We will get to the Universal Halloween Horror Nights construction shots soon but
our trip started with breakfast at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort. We will have
full review up in the next couple days.
So my wife and I headed over to Universal Studios after breakfast and I was quickly
reminded that this was Rock the Universe Christian concert weekend at Universal.
This really brought out the crowds at Islands of Adventure.
It did not take long after arriving in the park to see the start of the Halloween
Horror Nights preparations. Between Shrek and Jimmy Neutron looks like the puppets
are already being placed into the streets.
To be honest Universal Studios was not that crowded but everyone was over at the
Rip Ride Rocket where the line was over a hour.
(Yikes!! 75 minutes... Maybe next time)
We headed on over to the Revenge of the Mummy where the wait was a walk on. Can’t
Beat that. I took my brand new camcorder for my first POV video for the site. It
did not turn out to bad. Sorry about the loud wind in the coaster portions I will
start editing this out in future videos.
To the left of the Mummy entrance more Halloween Horror Nights setup was visible.
You can see these shots below.
(This looks to be some kind of stage)
While on the subject of Halloween Horror Nights signage is already showing up for
the Bill & Ted Show. Can’t wait to see if this year is hit or miss!
(Let’s just tear down this Fear Factor sign and put that show to rest!)
(I will not sneak my video camera onto rides ;)
Those looking for the Madagascar Meet in Greet strolling in the park will have to
go elsewhere as Halloween Horror Nights has moved in here as well.
This last set of Halloween Horror Nights Construction Photos were taken not too far
from the T2 Theatre. Looks like they will really be playing up on the 20 years theme.
From here we headed on over to Islands of Adventure thinking we would get some video
of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the Ollivander’s Wand Presentation. However
when we arrived I realized that everyone going to Rock the Universe that evening
was at Islands of Adventure. Check out these wait times.
You know that Islands of Adventure is busy when Dragons has a 45 minute wait. During
the summer you could practically walk onto this ride.
So below you will see photos in the Wizarding World along with a collage video around
the area. The inside video in the middle was taken inside the Three Broomsticks and
you can really see how far the detail goes into the tall ceilings.
(Nice day..too bad it was so crowded)
(Forbidden Journey line backed up way past the entrance)
So with the Jurassic Pak River Adventure with a 45 minute line that just about sealed
my day at Island s of Adventure. But don’t worry readers I will be back to the park
later in the week to get 1080p HD video of the Ollivander’s Wand Presentation.
If you are looking for a place to have a nice lunch and just relax halfway through
the day at Universal you could do worse than the Margaritaville location. You can
have lunch for the same price as quick service inside the park and head right back
in cooled off and full.
(Cuban sandwich delicious and cheaper than in the park!)
Well that was it for the day, we headed on over to the Universal Cineplex to check
out Resident Evil on the Imax. This was a pretty bad movie but I will save movie
reviews for another site. One last hint I can give Universal guests is you can break
up your day with a movie and unlike Disney you do not have to drive between the parks.
Enjoy your week and I look forward to bringing you full reviews from Halloween Horror
Nights XX along with tons of HD video!!
